New methods for drilling wells in tight shale formations have been employed across the United States.  An article on the KansasCity.com website suggests that these technologies will be employed in other parts of the world.

Trilogy Energy has four horizontal wells planned in the Montney Formation for the first quarter of 2009. A report at StockHouse.com gives test rates of 8.7 MMcf/d at 14.3 Mpa and 7.5 MMcf/d at 12.4 Mpa for two of the wells.

An article in the Star Telegram reports that Chesapeake Energy posted a loss of $866 million for the fourth quarter of 2008 and that they might be looking for a large company to partner with them in the Barnett Shale gas play.
