Questar’s Haynesville and Bakken Production Too Far Out

Shares of Questar dropped over 8% on Thursday. Share prices of that company and others in the natural gas sector might have advanced faster than their ability to deliver gas. Chattanooga Shale: CNX Drilling and Leases

CNX Gas Corporation reports drilling a successful well into the Chattanooga Shale and starting four more wells based upon the results. They have also leased about 235,000 acres above the Chattanooga Shale, mostly in Tennessee.


New Albany Shale in Kentucky

Kentucky USA Energy is drilling multiple wells in the New Albany Shale in the Illinois Basin of western Kentucky. They have gas production from several wells and are preparing a gas gathering system. More at Marketwatch.com.

Southwest Energy reported their second quarter 2008 results. Their production from the Fayetteville Shale increased from 200 MMcf per day in 2007 to 500 MMcf per day in 2008.

CNX Tests First Marcellus Well

CNX has reported the test results from their first Marcellus Shale gas well in southwestern Pennsylvania on their website. They encountered a flow of gas even before penetrating the Marcellus. An 80-hour open flow test yielded 1.2 MMcf per day for the completed vertical well.


Chattanooga Shale Drilling Success

CNX Gas reports a successful well in the Chattanooga Shale. This was a horizontal completion that opened with a test rate of 3.9 MMcf per day and sustained production of 300-400 Mcf per day.


Arkansas Game and Fish Leases Fayetteville Shale Acres

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is leasing over 10,000 acres of mineral rights and 26,000 surface acres in Yell County and Van Buren County to Chesapeake Energy for about $29,000,000.
